Inbal Sivan – Acupuncturist & Chinese Medicine Practitioner in Brighton
Hi, I’m Inbal. I’m an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner with 16 years of clinical experience, now practising in Brighton.
I have a particular interest in treating anxiety, insomnia and stress-related symptoms, although I see people with a wide range of health concerns.
My approach is very individual. Two people can come in with the same diagnosis but experience it in completely different ways, so I take the time to understand the whole picture - your symptoms, sleep, digestion, energy, emotional wellbeing and what may have been happening in your life around the time your symptoms began.
Alongside our conversation, I use traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis, including pulse and tongue diagnosis, as well as body palpation. Drawing on my Shiatsu training, I briefly palpate along the meridians to gather additional information about what is happening in the body. All of this helps me build a more complete picture and tailor each treatment to you.
My background
My own introduction to acupuncture came more than 20 years ago, when I developed severe sciatica. After other approaches hadn’t given me lasting relief, I tried acupuncture and was so impressed by my experience that I changed direction completely, leaving my biomedical engineering studies to pursue Chinese medicine.
I completed a four-year, full-time Diploma in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at Campus Broshim, followed by an MSc in Advanced Oriental Medicine at Middlesex University. My training also included clinical experience in Beijing, as well as an apprenticeship with a leading practitioner to develop my clinical skills.
My Master’s research focused on insomnia, an area that has remained a particular clinical interest throughout my career.
I have been practising since 2010, spending many years working in London before moving my practice to Brighton. I now see patients from Brighton, Hove and the surrounding area.
Over the years I’ve worked with people experiencing anxiety, insomnia, stress, digestive problems, pain and many other health concerns. What continues to fascinate me is how differently the same problem can present from one person to another — and how important it is to treat the person rather than simply the condition.

What you can expect
My aim is to create a space where you have time to explain what has been happening and feel properly listened to.
Your first appointment includes a detailed consultation, pulse and tongue diagnosis, brief body palpation along the meridians, and acupuncture. The first session is focused on getting a thorough understanding of what is going on and putting together an individual treatment plan.
Follow-up appointments include a short check-in, around 15 minutes of Shiatsu massage, and acupuncture. The Shiatsu helps me assess how your body is responding as well as helping you relax before the acupuncture treatment.
Where appropriate, I may also recommend Chinese herbal medicine alongside acupuncture.
If you’re considering acupuncture and would like to find out whether my approach might be suitable for you, you’re welcome to book a session or a free consultation.
